In my first morning back at work, I have: - found my new desk - found my pedestal - found a good chair - got my boss to tell HR that I am back at work - got two system passwords reset - deleted hundreds of emails - reminded myself that these trousers have a hole in the pocket. Pretty good going, I call that.

Three good things for Tuesday:
- there are snow leopards on BBC4!
- I got an hour's CPD this evening
- did I mention the snow leopards?

Three good things:
- we had a team away day from work, which was ... surprisingly not-bad
- I won a sports event!*
- I have an evening to myself.

*Those who know my level of physical fitness, athleticism, and general sporting prowess will be almost as surprised by this as I was.

Three good things:
- it's cooler today :-)
- I got away from work early (ie after less than ten hours)
- Mastermind is on tonight.

In just over two weeks, I will be abseiling about 90 feet down the outside of my office to raise money for Children in Need. Any sponsorship would be much appreciated!

ETA: You can either use this page:
http://www.justgiving.com/Andrew-Wells4
(assuming it works!)

or just tell me (here or by email) how much you are sponsoring me for, then send me a cheque (etc) afterwards.

Thanks!

Is this the real life
Is this just ICA
Caught in production
No escape from risk capital

Open your apps
Go onto the data and see
I'm just an actuary, I need no sympathy
Because I love my job, I am a geek
Interest high, interest low
Anyway the curve goes, it all really matters
To me, to me

Heather, just killed Bassaam
Put him in a room with Jim
Gave him a grilling now he's dead
Oh, year end had just begun
And now it's time to do it all again for mid year

Emma, ooh,
Didn't mean to make you go
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if it all really matters

Too late, the audit has come
Sent shivers down my spine
Body
If

A plea

If anyone would like to enliven my morning at work by commenting here, that would be much appreciated!

ETA: Or sending me a message.

CPD day in Reading. Acceptable (although with several minor niggles), until it came to home time; when the bus wouldn't start. An hour later, we were told that a replacement bus would be at least another 40 minutes, and that anyone who needed to get home quickly could get the train and put it on expenses. So a bunch of us did, my dotted line boss putting our tickets on his company credit card.

I got home at 7:10 pm, only eleven and a half hours after leaving this morning.

Now for dinner, and Jeeves and Wooster, and a bath, and bed.

How was your day?

If anyone is interested: I received 107 emails at work in the six working days I was off. Fewer than I expected.
wellinghall: (Tiger)
Yes, that's right. Going to work.
wellinghall: (Tiger)
... is going into work today :-(

Virtual chocolate to anyone who can cheer me up.

Real chocolate to the most amusing interpretation of the initials AoCiCR.

That's the best week's work I've done in a long time. In fact, about a year and a half.

ETA: And all dog lovers - and snow lovers - should watch this.
