There has been some discussion on the airwaves on this side of the pond about how early Christmas has been pushed. They started the sales in Mid November (before our Thanksgiving). Mind you, Thanksgiving was pushed from the Last Thursday in November to the Fourth Thursday in November in the 1940s by the Merchants who wanted a longer Christmas Shopping season and now that isn't long enough.
Oh, and in the USofA, Christmas is treated as the End of the X-mas season. Trees are already dying (I've seen them put out by the curb as early as Dec 26th). The whole thing wrapped up and gone.
What ever happened to the 12 Days?
How is Christmas fairing over in England these days?
Me? I'm Jewish, we were done Real Early this year. But still Christmas is the primary excuse to party, so I do follow some of the forms.
