Packing

The spare bed is covered with stuff to pack. So is the bookshelf next to it.

So far, my valiant attempts to reduce the pile have resulted in the removal of one (1) fleece. I may need to be ruthless.

(The reasons for the huge heap are that we are going (a) for three and a bit weeks, (b) somewhere with limited laundry facilities, and (c) to a country with, potentially, a 30 degree C range in daytime temperatures.)

Lots of thin layers, a tube of Travel Wash (available from Boots) and a ruthless streak are what you need!

Nah, a couple of pairs of linen trousers, a pair of thermal lined trousers, a selection of long-sleeved linen shirts, a couple of real wool jumpers, a heavy-weight jacket (can be warn while travelling to reduce baggage weight) and a good selection of under-wear. A lighter-weight jacked might be worth adding depending on what might be being visited; that could be linen as well to increase its scope.

The advantage of linen is that is warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. The thermal lined trousers should cope with the very cold weather.

The above has served me very well over approximately that sort of temperature range across England and Australia. ;-)

I'd still advocate the use of Travel Wash. If for nothing else, it saves you having to take over three weeks' worth of underwear...

Ooh, that Travel Wash sounds very useful! I'll have to investigate. (I've just got back from a week's trip with what can be carried on a motorcycle; I don't think I could go for much longer!)
