Not sure about the first two, but the third one's nice. Wonder what the broadband connectivity is like. Are there direct flights from Kirkwall to London? If so, it's probably closer to my office than where we live now.

Alas no; you've got to change at Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen (and start by getting the ferry to Kirkwall). I think Shapinsay has a reasonable-speed broadband connection; 90-some % of Orkney does.

Feeding the postcode into samknows.com says there's a phone exchange in neighbouring Balfour, and that 5Mbit ought to be possible.

Balfour is on the same island, and can't be more than a couple of miles away. At one stage, I think the postal address of the owner of the castle was something like "Mr Balfour, Balfour Castle, Balfour Island".
