The Welsh Borders

We spent the weekend in the Welsh borders.

Clun had new leaves ...
002

... a packhorse bridge ...
005

... and a castle.
018

Stokesay also has a castle, with a bright and cheerful gatehouse.
032

Berrington Hall has a library ...
035

... a fine collection of waistcoats ...
038

... blues and purples in the garden ...
040

... and red in the car park.
042

Croft Castle has a church next door ...
045

... wyverns outside ...
046

... wyverns inside ...
047

... another library ...
049

... and a dragon.
052

Shobdon has a "Strawberry Hill Gothic" church ...
056

... at both ends.
058

And finally, Lydney Park has bluebells ...
087

... and other spring planting.

Beautiful beech leaf photo! Also loved the "Strawberry Hill Gothic" church, and the rest too. Clun reminds me of my favourite children's books (by Malcolm Saville), one of which quotes:

"Clunton and Clunbury, Clungunford and Clun
are the quietest places under the sun"

A. E. Housman.

All that in one weekend (even a 3 day one)? Gorgeous pics with a fun narrative...I'm just tired looking at it though!

I thought you were at a wedding though...or did I imagine it?

I love the wyverns! And the bridge. It's just beautiful!
