Dr Who

Well to my mind, that was the best David Tennant one yet; indeed, I think they are getting better episode by episode. Some random thoughts:
- I would like them to bring back proper multi-part stories
- Sarah Jane Smith is still quite gorgeous
- last week, Billie Piper somehow looked younger and thinner
- I wish David Tennant would learn how to use a razo properly (although he's improved a bit since the first episode, a fortnight ago).

That was the first DT one I've enjoyed. Genuine emotional stuff and less of Rose being full of herself. ASH was fantastic. Mikey had some good lines too. "I'm the tin dog!" :)

Less Rose being full of herself? I may actually enjoy this episode if I don't forget to watch the repeat tomorrow.

Ah - hadn't known his middle name, but then (maybe I should whisper this) I hardly ever watched Buffy.

You mean you don't commit my every word to memory?!

Yes a definate improvement in the writing. I didn't enjoy last week's episode so much. The hospital episode started well but the ending was weak so this was definately the best.

I agree that this probably has the edge on the previous two. I've just watched it again (I haven't been motivated to re-watch 'Tooth and Claw' yet) and agree that David Tennant's performance was his strongest so far. There seemed to be more gravitas, and a sense that this was once more the man who sees the threads that bind the universe together, and mend them when they break (to quote the otherwise undistinguished late Tom Baker story, 'Meglos') and, just as importantly, teach those who travel with him to do the same. Elisabeth Sladen's 'everything ends' speech was magnificent, echoing as it did the Eccleston Doctor's line in 'The End of the World', and more particularly Rose's speech as the Bad Wolf in 'The Parting of the Ways' last year.

I'd love them to do the proper multi-part stories again too, I just can't get used to them resolving everything in one episode, I want cliff-hangers!

I thought ASH made a great baddie, but I thought the whole thing was a bit too much Jamie's School Dinners. I'm not sure why they think that the computer animation is better than men in costumes where you can see the zip either, it just looked too cartoony this week.

Also the whole love thing makes me want to subject Russell T Davies to a slow and painful death...

Agree on the multi-parts. I don't mind the love thing, so long as they don't take it too far, labour it too much.

Still unsure what is supposed to be wrong with DT's grooming though ?

ASH always makes a good baddie, personally I find him very watchable in Little Britain too.
