Doctor Who spin-off 'cancelled'

Plans for a Doctor Who spin-off show starring Billie Piper were scrapped at the last minute, series producer Russell T Davies has revealed.

RTD writes: "It spoils Doctor Who if we can see Rose, and the Doctor can't... if we see as a concrete fact that her life continues to be as exciting without the Doctor, as a female agent of Torchwood, fighting evil, and writing [sic] wrongs... You have to protect Doctor Who. We keep a very careful eye on it, even if it costs me a fortune! I shot myself in the foot financially by abandoning Rose Tyler: Earth Defence.

I'm not sure I agree with him there. Still, I think one spin off is plenty, really.

I reckon this is one of those fake stories put out by RTD & co to distract people from genuine spoilers/stories that may or may not be doing the rounds.

I don't think so. I can't think of him putting out a fake story other than the denials that Billie Piper was leaving; and the production team have better things to do than add to the mountain of rumour that is already out there.

When I saw your headline I thought for a moment they'd cancelled Torchwood... I nearly had a heart attack. Thank goodness it was only a furphy.
