And I have never actually been to Stonehenge - I've driven past it (on the way back from seeing the total solar eclipse in Cornwall, ten years ago almost to the day), but never been closer. Broadgar does have the huge advantage that you can wander around it freely - as does the nearby Stones of Stenness.

I like Avebury too (although we didn't spend long there).

There is a series of major excavations going on around Brodgar - they are finding all sorts of weird & wonderful things.

Thank you :-) It wasn't easy (particularly with a manual focus camera without a zoom lens) - but then, you haven't seee all the failed photos!
