Alpheus Williams is my man. Excellent composition.

He got my vote too. But Ambrose Burnside seems to have it by a landslide. An excellent array of names on display as well as facial hair!

W.B. Hazen. It's all about the waxed moustache. I miss mine...

I was sorry not to see it in the flesh.

Also sorry not to see it in person - why did it get the chop?

My department at work did a charity beard-growing for Barnardo's. Those of us with existing beards also were able to take part. At the end of the growing period, we had a department meeting and members of the department were presented with a range of facial hair options. Then every beard was auctioned off - basically people bid on what style we had to shave our beards into.

Tragically, the style with the highest bid for me was mutton chops / no moustache, so the long moustache had to go.

We raised £500 though.

Aw :-( But well done! :-) And I see no reason there not to grow it again :-)
