Shock Hobbit film news

"Evangeline Lilly’s The Hobbit character is unauthentic"

"Lost actress Evangeline Lilly has revealed how her character in the Peter Jackson movie The Hobbit is not an authentic character from the J.R.R. Tolkien books. Evangeline also admitted that the character is very well written and that she hopes fans do not turn against her."

No, really? Who'd have thunk it!

Poor girl, I almost feel sorry for her!

Since the film(s) will cover events that are established in other canon sources but not mentioned in the book itself, it's inevitable that there will be some characters that aren't in the book. This of course won't stop the sadder types of fanboys and fangirls from venting on websites...

So what are the "Wooded Owls" she says Tolkien referred to then? My memories of the Hobbit are hazy... -Neuromancer.

I think on the whole I prefer a "new" character that's true to the spirit of the original novel than badly adapted film versions of a character from the book.

Have been watching The Two Towers tonight and Faramir is so much less heroic and noble than in the book and I think it affects (badly) the theme of what-a-hero--really is that has already developed between Frodo and Boromir.

Though S. Bean as Boromir is *very* watchable ;)

I pretty much lost interest in the film(s) when I heard a while back that there would be a major female character involved.

Different characters, different story. And I remember the amount of 'respect' these people have shown to the original material in the past, all the awards and amazing visuals not withstanding.

Not sure if that makes me 'sad', but of excessive use of 'artistic license' when reproducing the much loved work of other(far better) artist a fan I am not. :/

Out of interest, who is this?
