I have been irrevocably corrupted - I was watching the BBC4 programme on Matilda (or Maud) and kept wondering why no-one mentioned the nightgowns.

I'm very much the same, large swathes of English history come with their own built-in comic (and often very clever and appropriate) commentary. I suppose there are worse corruptions. ;-)
