Though I have to admit I don't have high expectations - 69% currently on Rotten Tomatoes. And I loved the LotR films. But then, I'm not keen on The Hobbit as a children's book, probably because I far too old when I read it.
That's a 'no and I won't in the cinema'. I have plans to wait till all 3 are out in a box set, and then get rascally drunk and watch them at home with some friends, where we can enjoy the scenery and the good bits, and ignore the upsetting bits.
I do want to see it in the cinema, but work is being pretty energy-sapping at the moment, and it's a lot further to go to the cinema than it used to be.
I am interested in what the people who didn't like it or genuinely had mixed feelings thought, and why, in more detail. I keep reading (in lack-of-quality newspapers obtained for free during the week) that it's too long and waffly and maybe boring?
The very dear friend of mine who forced me to read LOTR and I had a pact where we saw the LOTR films on New Years eve(or day) when they were released. This year he and his partner are supposed to be coming to me for New Year and we'll go and see The Hobbit then.

However, the parts I loved and the parts I thought needed trimming don't match up with most of the reviews I've read so far.
