I'm here and reading, but it's definitely a lot quieter than it used to be. :-(
It's such a shame, because there are so many things to like about journalling sites like LJ and Dreamwidth, but social networks are dependent on going where other people are. Between them, Facebook and Tumblr have pulled away most of the people I used to talk to here.
It's mostly the media/fanwork fandom side of LJ that got pulled into Tumblr.
It's great for sharing images and vids, but it's useless for conversation, imo, and there's nothing like LJ filter system for choosing who can see what you post or even to sort the posts you read by origin. :-(
To me it wouldn't be a great loss if it went away tomorrow, but until then it's a fairly harmless way of passing the time, and some people like the steam engine pictures I post.
I agree it's quieter of late & I do miss it from how it was, but life's like that, it moves on. I am probably quieter too due to change in circumstances, and was never that interesting. I agree about Facebook & Tumblr. Not keen on either myself, and I don't entirely care if everyone else is. I find myself using the phone more again, and email, and doing that very old fashioned thing of waiting til I see people, TBH.
Yeah, I've found it kind of ghost-town-ish here lately. I like journaling under an alias, so I will never go all Facebook. But most others I know seem to have done.
I'm here! As I said to rustica, LJ is by far my favorite social network.
I am way likely to post or comment here than anywhere else, and have a number of friends that I'm not in touch with in any other way whose thoughts and experiences I really value. I do Facebook and Twitter, but feel much less comfortable posting there, particularly on Facebook.
I feel the same. Even when I think it's giving me everything, there have been so many things in the past that it just hasn't shown me - or has shown me days / weeks later - that I just don't trust it.
