What a marvellous morning for England :-)

I must let the rest of the household know that it's on! :)

Are you sure that's wise? ;-)

Could it be the first ever one-day Test?

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2015-08-06 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe if England had forfeited their first innings ...

I'm so glad I didn't miss the beginning! Phenomenal.

Well quite!

I saw the headline and had to go and check that it actually WAS a test match and that I'd no got it wrong in my head and it was a one-day match!

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2015-08-06 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You can tell it's not a one-day match because no international side would be clumsy enough to throw their wickets away like that in one ...

My gob was well and truly smacked. And so far, they seem not to be fucking up the batting egregiously...*

* I will allow for the possibility of their batsmen being attacked by mustelids. It's quite a common occurrence. Not so much a middle-order batting collapse (they seem to have fixed that) but a top order batting catastrophe.

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2015-08-06 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we have avoided a top-order collapse in this innings, at least; but the mustelids could still come out and attack the middle order.

Shortest innings in test history with 111 balls :D And England have been doing well with the bat

Extraordinary stuff. All over by teatime tomorrow?

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2015-08-07 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Or we could bat through until about 5.30, give the rest of the team the chance to rack up their individual hundreds and fifties, then put the Aussies in for a nasty hour before the close.

So it could still be over by 6.15 ...

Or maybe it will all be over by tea ...
