I have a rule about putting washing out: between the beginning of November and around the middle of March, I don't. Why? Not just because it's so likely to rain; I find that the hours of daylight are so short, and it's so seldom 'drying weather' anyway, that washing just doesn't dry enough to make the effort worthwhile. I dry indoors, which is much more efficient!
I take it you're having a rough washing day. At least you can put the wash back up again. :) My SIL who lives in Florida figured out years ago, that if the rain isn't being too windy (and likely to blow the clothes off the line), just leave the clothes up and call it an extra rinse cycle. :D
I fear that Florida rain may be of a different quality. In the UK, if you do that at this time of year, you are liable to end up with frozen blocks of ice rather than wearable clothes. The rain leaves them much wetter than the spin cycle on the machine, and the weather is rarely warm enough to deal with all that water before the next frost or, indeed, the next rain shower.
I always feel that maximum irritation value is achieved by having the rain start once you've started doing something else that it isn't easy to stop. That way you absolutely guarantee that the washing is substantially wetter coming in than it was going out.
