We have a waterleak!

I rang [livejournal.com profile] adaese to say, "Shall I come home for lunch," and she said, "Please do, there's a water leak!" So I went home, and she showed me the leak from the overflow pipe outside; I said, "Yes, we should get it looked at, but it's probably not very urgent." Went back inside, and heard tap, tap, tap ... went upstairs, and water was coming round the loft hatch.

Rang letting agents, who tried to ring the landlord; rang emergency plumber, who will be round later at £lots / hour; am trying to ring landlord again. Have switched off water, and (because at one stage water was coming down the light flex in the landing ceiling) the electricity.

I'm now back at work; [livejournal.com profile] adaese is holding the fort.

Agents/landlord should definitely be paying for plumber - there are advantages to renting!

Unquestionably!

Amen to that.

Hope you get it sorted speedily.

*hugs*

massive sympathies! After two weeks without heating, our leak was finally fixed yesterday. Sooooooooo happy to have a warm house. Hope yours get fixed sooner - At least it is obvious where the water is coming from! Wasn't the case with ours which is why it took so long

My best wishes for a sorting at Hogwarts speed.

Also *icon envy* to Jane_somebody. don'tthink I've seen that one before, reminds me of Pat Wynne's stuff.

We had that a while ago - it turned out that the water coming through the ceiling was because there was a leak where the overflow pipe joined the tank, and adjusting the ball-valve solved the problem.

Hope the plumber gets it sorted quickly, and that the landlord doesn't make any difficulty!
