Sod it. Live Journal ate the previous version of this.

[Poll #1466744]

I tried to reply to your reply to my comment and found it gone. I wondered if you had deleted it or taken it into a locked post, but couldn't think why....

What had you tried to say?

[identity profile] lil-shepherd.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to look at where the poll had gone since I had last seen it and try to make an intelligent comment! Probably just as well I never got to do so...

The choices are more evenly spread this time around.

I picked a prime number.

Half of these numbers are.

The Strong Law of Small Numbers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strong_law_of_small_numbers) strikes!

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there a law of middle-sized numbers?

[identity profile] camillofan.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I presume we were to choose our same number. :-)

[identity profile] the-marquis.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah now last time I chose 6, and noted that 5 was unloved - so Ipicked it this time, and so has someone else

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough! The two things I remember about the last one are that 7 got far more than its fair share of pickes (11 / 40, I think), and 5 got none.

[identity profile] camillofan.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I was disappointed that my choice of 7 turned out to be so unoriginal. But I chose it again. :-)

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Well done! :-)

I regret to inform you that when asked to pick a number between one and ten, around half of the population typically picks 7. People who know this tend to have a strong bias against picking 7 thereafter :)

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Quite ...

[identity profile] tigerfort.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Whereas I picked a "random" number each time. I think it was four the first time; it seems to have been ten this time.

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you put that in quotes! ;-)

[identity profile] wellinghall.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Wrong! ;-)
