Songs this time

1. On a morning from a Bogart movie, in a country where they turned back time
2. Is this the real life, is this just fantasy
3. You get a shiver in the dark, its been raining in the park but meantime
4. A lovestruck Romeo, sings a streetsuss serenade
5. Now I'm a little shy, I like to stay home
6. Now is the solstice of the year, winter is the glad song that you hear
7. Hey Mr Dreamseller, where have you been
8. Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long
9. The silicon chip inside her head gets switched to overload
10. Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming round

ETA: The ones that people have got have been italicised.

Yay! The Taruithorn walking-through-fields-with-cows-in theme song!

What is the meme, by the way? Is there some means by which one chooses the songs? Or is it just whim?

Ah! What I had intended, but not said, is that you are meant to guess the song that each of the lines comes from. But if other people just want to post the first lines of ten of their favourite songs, that's fine by me!

The Taruithorn walking-through-fields-with-cows-in theme song!

Please explain?

I think I know more than I thought!

1)
2) Bohemian Rhaposdy, Queen
3) Sultans of Swing, Dire Straits
4) Romeo and Juliet - forgotten the band, Dire Straits as well?
5)
6)
7)
8) Invisible Touch, Genesis
9) I don't like Mondays, Boomtown Rats. Love that song.
10) Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bonny Tyler!

Oh noes, does this mean I have to go and think of 10 songs to do this with.

Well done! - though including two by Dire Straits was an error on my part.

Well done!

I can't think of an easy way to hint at 6 or 8, I'm afraid. Attempts at continuations might get you half a point ...

Am I destined to get no more than 2/10 for every meme like this? (Although that is one more than last time...maybe next time it'll be 3).

Mind you, most of these are a bit before my time ;)

Well, I now know the answers to 6 & 8, I Googled them since I'd given up on getting the answers myself. I also looked up 1, 5 & 7; I found 1 & 7, but not 5.

It's a tricky one; not helped by the fact that the words "shy" and "home" are rather drawn-out when sung, and I haven't attempted to reproduce that in the spelling.

Taruthorn (at least my generation) enjoys singing Bohemian Rhapsody while walking. We have discovered that cows react to this particular song very strongly, either by mooing along or by following us through the field menacingly.

Hmm, I prefer fields without cows in (unless they are made of concrete)...esp if they are menacing. Now horses would be another matter.

1. Hardly anyone will get this unless they know your, um, interesting musical tastes and even then...
5. Who the heck is he?
6. Chuckle. Nice one.
7. I've been here, the drink's good.

You are showing your age here, young wellinghall ;) But good list, nevertheless.
