Match it for Pratchett
Mar. 14th, 2008 08:51 pmScience fiction and fantasy fans were shocked by Terry Pratchett's announcement recently that he's suffering from a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's.
Many of us have been touched personally by this disease. As we age, more and more of us will have to face it ourselves, or watch as people we love become strangers.
Wonderfully, Pratchett announced recently that he is donating half a million pounds, or about a million dollars, to Alzheimer's research, and now we have a chance to help, too. Terry Pratchett's fans have launched a challenge to, "Match it for Pratchett," and word is sweeping the blogosphere.

Still got a cold. About to go back to bed.
In my dream last night, I had gone to some sort of clinic to see about diabetes / anaemia / something else. At one stage, I saw two doctors together, who turned out to be
sigisgrim and
amalion.
How can someone get a 10-page Word document to take up 9MB? And how can they then have the gall to email it to people?? (I haven't opened it!)
A little game for you:

Thanks for all your good wishes etc. My eyesight is still blurry, but it's getting better all the time. The actual op was over in a few minutes, and while awkward, it was pain-free; the worst bit of the day was sitting around for ages beforehand, with pupils growing steadily more dilated. Next time, I'm going to take some music!
Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome

ETA: Five times for me, starting with a cracked collar-bone when I was three, and ending with my intussusception when I was thirty-six.

I was worried ...
Mar. 30th, 2007 07:03 pm... but now I've been to the doctor's, and I'm not.

I'm joining what seems like the majority of my FList, and getting a cold. This afternoon, it has progressed from a slight snuffle to feeling like death warmed up.
I was meant to be going to London on Tuesday for a paper (and to receive my award, yay!), and again on Wednesday for a seminar; but even if I go to work, I won't be going any further.
Hugs, lemsip &c all welcome.
