At the start of this week, my inbox contained about 500 emails and my overfill inbox on my hard disk (rather than on the Exchange server) contained 6,400. I've had to be in the office all week and have had a steady stream of queries to answer, but apart from that, I haven't actually been that busy, so I've been taking the opportunity to reduce those numbers.
As of now, I have 3 emails in my inbox and 1,349 in my overspill.
Part of this is from using Outlook's rules facility to set up rules so that emails from certain addresses get sent to a 'bacon'* directory rather than the inbox. Annoyingly, the maximum size that Outlook 2003 rules are allowed in total is 32kb, which isn't a lot - and isn't enough for all the rules I wanted, so I'm still having to do some manual deleting and moving.
* 'Bacon' is a bit like 'spam', except that you are sort of responsible for getting it. Mailings from Amazon, LiveJournal or Facebook notifications or newsletters from airlines are 'bacon'.

Date: 2009-06-11 05:40 pm (UTC)5 emails in inbox.
None in overspill folder.
Very pleased.
Am resisting temptation to look at inbox using Blackberry just so that I can delete new emails.
