There was a "Guide to the weather" doing the rounds a few years back. It was along the lines of: -20C: clubbers in Newcastle put a jumper on -30C: housewives in Shetland stop putting the washing out -40C: Norwegian army cancels winter manoeuvres because it's too warm.
