1. Our electric drill is failing - the rechargeable battery holds hardly any charge, and needs re-charging each time it's used. Can anyone recommend a replacement?

ETA
2. Our radiators don't appear to have a bleeding valve - any ideas?

It may be possible to "abuse" the batteries into holding charge. Or you may be able to buy a replacement battery pack.

2. Have another bleeding look? 8-)

Sorry not very helpful. I have never encountered radiators that don't have a bleed valve.

ExMemSec says "get a bleeding plumber".

*sigh*

1) I've had good experience with "Worx" brand tools; solidly made with comfortable grips. However, I don't have one of their drills, and I'm not sure what brand my current one is (?Marksman? Something like that).

2) My immediate assumption would be that the valves had been painted up, as I've never encountered a radiator without, but....

It might be hidden. Some suggestions of places to look here :

I have found bleed valves on the face of the radiator next to the wall before - sometimes rusted shut so that a new radiator is needed.

I jrecently bought a Makita drill with two LiIon battery pcks from RS (http://rswww.com) for a considerably reduced price, presumably because it was an old model. There is a slim chance they still have stock. Otherwise I would probably have bought an RS own brand LiIon drill - but anyway, pick one that has a 13mm chuck, not a 10mm one, because drill bits for larger diameters are often available with a 13mm shank.

The thing with LiIon battery packs is that with care they should last for many years.

For more detail than I have energy to type, phone if you wish.

The battery (and, indeed, the rest of the drill) was bought nearly fourteen years ago, and hasn't necessarily had the best of care. Thanks for the other drill advice.

The valves have indeed been found facing the wall. The plumber (when he came for something else) managed to open all but one of them; the last one appears to be fixed shut.

Thanks for the drill advice. The valves turned out to be on the back of the radiators.

We did (for something else), and he pointed out the valves on the back of the radiators.

Following my later post and your comments there, we are probably going to get another drill, then ask my brother in law to look at the existing battery.

I should learn, really, that what ExMemSec says in jest is often true, so one shouldn't worry about whether his deadpan deliveries are jokes or not!
