I went with an average, which is that tea greatly overshadows coffee except on weekends, when I may make a cup to go with breakfasts like cinnamon rolls or biscuits. I almost never drink carbonated beverages, with the occasional exception of ginger beer or sparkling water.

Depends what sort of tea and whether you (currently) have digestive problems, BP problems or the like. I need to have my teeth polished regularly because of all the tannin and the like in what I drink. Which is present even in decaf versions :-(.

A "cup" of tea is a pint mug of Indian spiced tea, a "cup" of coffee is a large latte. Tea at home, and not in the evening. Coffee when I'm out, or when we have guests who like it, and it is drink of choice at the cinema.

I guess it depends how strong you make it. Although I have about 6 cups of tea a day (mainly because I drink coffee in the morning) I only use 2 teabags a day... I do get through a helluva lot of milk, though!

I don't drink normal tea, only green tea. Most of the time I drink soya milk or fruit juice.

Answers are averages/estimates - and for "cup" read "mug." 8-plus mugs of coffee a day isn't as bad as it sounds, since I drink decaff and have it weak. I'm trying to drink at least half of them black at the moment, to cut down on the calories from milk. When I'm visiting my parents, though, my Mum and I are on our fourth mug of tea by 9 a.m. (She hopefully asks me if I want more, because if I say yes she's justified in filling another pot.)

Hmm. I have always been of the opinion that there is no such thing as too much tea, although I suppose it would depend on what kind of tea. I have about twelve in my cupboard and tend to fluctuate between black in mid-afternoon and herbal or green in the evenings. Depending on how much time I have, it's either chai or cappuccino in the morning. No soda, except as a mixer. ;)

I usually have a cup of tea at home and a cappuccino on my way to work on weekdays, and a cappuccino at home on weekends (sometimes a cup of tea as well). Occasionally I have a second cup of tea at work, or a very diluted coffee.

For cups read mugs, of course, and the tea is reasonably strong (Assam - Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Free Trade) with milk and, I'm sorry to say, sugar.

I might have a mug of redbush (without milk) or Earl Grey or, in the summer, proper Mint Tea (Gunpowder, fresh mint, lots of sugar, the way I was told to make it in Morocco, many years ago.)

I tend to have one cup of strong instant coffee a day, two at the outside, and may have it black or white, with or without sugar. I loathe all coffee made by those god-awful coffee shop machines, and always drink filter coffee (if available) or tea in such places. I have been known to have a double espresso at the end of a meal out, but would much prefer Turkish or Greek style coffee.

I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke, but I haven't had one in ages.

That's the standard for a work day, though it varies a bit, depending on circumstances.

When I'm home it's more like 5 coffees and 1 tea (at lunch or tea time - whichever is the cold meal with bread).

I drink only decaffinated tea, so don't feel bad about my 5 cups.

As to if 7 is too many - depends on whether it's caffinated and, if so, whether there are any medical reasons for you not to take large amounts.

Most days, I'll just have one "cup" of coffee. Problem is that my preferred cup holds over a pint. If I'm in a situation where ad lib coffee is available (and requires little to no effort), I can drink a couple of litres. The only limits are that I have to switch to herb teas after lunch if I want to sleep that night, and that I prefer not to make myself ill with caffeine poisoning.

Black tea is generally an evil drink in my opinion (although occasionally I'll crave Darjeeling or Pekoe types), but many non-caffeinated herb teas are very tasty (and I'm assuming absent from your poll because of the lack of caffeine). I've never tried other stimulant teas, but since coffee is so nice I think I'd only turn to them if it were unavailable.
