The library alone looks worth the trip.

It's a gorgeous room - though you'd never know it from the outside. It was part of the original library that was knocked down in the 1960s and replaced by the current concrete brutalist structure. There was a campaign to save it, so they kept all the panelling etc, and reconstructed it inside one of the new buildings.

Actually Sally, you should read the new Amon Hen where my seminar report notes MB's comment that it may well be a last extant bit of the old library

We use it for committee meetings some of the time - it's a gorgeous location. Very Victorian, but I'm afraid I'd much rather have that than 1960s concrete.
