"A Second World War German Luger revolver was discovered on the beach below Craigiefield on Tuesday.
It is understood that the weapon has been sent by Kirkwall police for analysis.
A police spokesman said they were unable to comment at present."

This reminds me of an incident on our trip to Shetland a few years ago. Some roads were closed off, and we later read why. A fisherman had found some unexploded WWII grenades in the sea. He had taken them ashore, then dumped them in a field.
