But the real answer is: whatever you want.

Assume you have already seen Pirates in an Adventure with scientists, which would be my choice.

It's Bank Holiday weekend - check the events listings before you go anywhere.

As far as I can work out, Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists is the only thing worth seeing at the moment. Even if it has finished its run.

Having seen The Hunger Games I can highly highly recommend it.

However, right now my heart, mind, body and soul belong to the Avengers. :-D

I've had The Cabin in the Woods recommended to me, but this is by someone who shares my love of horror and gore. I suspect it might not be such a good one for you to see.

I don't think I could be bothered to see any of those films at the cinema. I generally prefer to watch films on telly, even if it means waiting a bit.

And also...

Avengers: Apparently has nothing to do with the real 'Avengers' and instead is some Hollywood comic book superhero nonsense, no doubt with more explosions than plot.

American Pie: Reunion. The first film was very good, the second and third not bad, all the ones since then truly abysmal.

The Lucky One: Chick flick. Bleurrgh.

The Hunger Games: Battle Royale for kids. Buy Battle Royale on DVD instead.

The Cabin in the Woods: To be fair, I have seen good reviews for this.

Battleship: A Hollywood action movie so desperate to be bad that it stars Rihanna. Ri-f***ing-hanna.

Titanic 3D: Too much Celine Dion. Also, chick flick.

Gone: Had to look this one up. Reviews are terrible.

Wrath of the Titans 3D: We watched the first one the other day. The second one looks pretty similar but has less Gemma Arterton. Still monsters that Ray Harryhausen would be proud of no doubt.

Given the weather forecast, the cinema is a cunning plan, and maybe somewhere else with an indoor option, at least for part of the time!

My brother went to see the Avengers and said it was good enough to go to see it at the cinema again. I think that less is more and having spent a week going to LOTS of interesting and cultural places, you should stay in the rest of the time or plan nothing and see if you suddenly decide to do something unexpected on a whim, esp if the sun comes out ;)

I saw Avengers Assemble today, and really enjoyed it, but it is definitely a comic book movie - if you're not into quips and explosions, even well-done ones, it's probably not the film for you.

Unless of course the red-head in black leather is enough to convince you. ;-)

Having just seen The Avengers, now more than ever I vote for this film. And for a change, I even vote for the 3D version. Normally I'm not impressed with 3D, but there is so many amazing aerial sequences in this film that the 3D really works.

We went to see The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists in the end, and greatly enjoyed it; and then to Newark Park (as you have seen from the photos). But that is probably an end t our cultural activities for this weekend.

I still haven't seen a 3D film; but I'm not sure whether it would work with my eyes.
