I need to get to St Catherines college in Oxford by 9.30 on Friday morning. I'll be driving as far as the outskirts, at least, but what is my best bet then? Should I drive to the college, or go to the park and ride? How long would it take me to get to the town centre from the outskirts?

Thanks

Use the Park & Ride. It's a no brainer.

I'd allow 20 to 30 mins to get from the outskirts.

I'd agree with [livejournal.com profile] sigisgrim. St Catz do have visitor parking, though being an Oxford college I expect that they have a policy on it. If you arrive at the Park and Ride by 8.50am this should leave enough time to get into the centre of town - will you be coming into Thornhill or Pear Tree?

I'd recommend Thornhill, as that P+R route should take you over Mag. Bridge and along The High which should be a shorter walk than where the 300 drops you off and I think that car park will be closer for driving too.

You do realise that if you try to drive into Oxford now, they shoot you?

Having said that, I was rather pleased the last time I did it to find that St Clement's car park is still there. What's more, it's now far too expensive for bloody students to be able to afford, so you can actually park in it. Perfect if you happen to be going on a KPMG punting trip up the Cherwell.

Why are you going there?

Thanks for the advice. What I'm now planning to do is leave my car at the B&B on Banbury Road, then bus in.

For a (spreadsheet) modelling course - which conveniently happens to be the same weekend as the SocT banquet ;-)

I'm glad you included the word "spreadsheet"...

Otherwise you would have thought I was going for a session of Airfix kits, paints and glue, right? ;-)

Ah, that's what the Oxford OTC does nowadays ... ;-)

Well, I didn't really know what to think. It might have been Airfix kits, paints and glue, or it might have been some sort of other modeling, and I wouldn't want you to have got them muddled up... ;-)
