I have no complaints about my Lexmark 2600 which was a cheap supermarket emergency buy and has stood up to considerably more use that I anticipated (due to the breakdown of my big HP Laserjet duoplex).

Except, of course, for the price of ink.

I second inamac's comment about Lexmark. I have a wifi all in one Lexmark X6690 and it works well. The Lexmark GUI is OK-ish if slow. The scan to PDF software needs to be taken out and shot. Ink is available only from FLeece-Me World or Lexmark.

For Oxonmoot, we get the cheapest that can be got from Staples, currently these are HP. HP's drivers are lousy so I'd recommend avoiding them.

By far the best one I have found is the ultra sexy, ultra expensive Canon at work. Colour copying, scans to pdf directly and costs me nowt.

I have an HP Deskjet 2050 here. It has one or two oddities but it does the job. (This is using it from Linux, I've no idea what the Windows driver bundle is like.)

If you are intending to print much it might be worth looking at the cost of the consumables. Last time I did so, ages ago, Kodak came out ahead.

If you're intending to print a lot, and are happy to amortise the expense, then a laser (even a colour laser) comes out well ahead on the consumables.

I have an HP Officejet 6500. It replaced an older officejet which lasted 5 years. Not bad for a main machine in a small office. This one even has a wireless setup, so you can print from your phone or camera.
I buy my inks at Costco. In fact, my first requirement is how easy is the Ink to get, and how much will it cost me.

I have one of the ex-Oxonmoot machines that Gurthaew spoke of for nearly 2 years. It is an Epson Stylus SX115. It is not fast, but does scan and copy well enough to include items in my academic essays. I have always used the Epsom inks as they are not that expensive. Colour reproduction is good.

Yes, the HP one we have at home (and which bek very successfully researched properly at great length first). I will look at it on Weds and give you the details on email. Hope you can wait that long. I can anti-recommend anything made by Epson for longwinded reasons I won't go into now. Canon possibly also comes into latter category. I have also found HP customer services very good over several things, as we have our laptops from them too.

We've had mixed Lexmark experiences in the past. Better than Epson though ;)
