It only starts in Feb. if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

It was definitely February this year, but I am sure sometimes it's as late as April or even May before it really gets started.

And sometimes it's Spring down by the sea when it's still Winter in the hills, or even Spring on the sunny side of the hill and Winter on the shady side.

I answered "When I have to mow the lawn", but what I really mean is, "When I have to say to Pellinor, 'Oi! Get out there and mow the lawn. It's got so long that the cats have vanished and all I can see is the tips of their ears.'" This can be anything between February and April, depending on the year, and the weather, and how lazy we're feeling.

Alternative answer: When the cats start moulting.

It had just started here, and now we're getting a nasty nor'easter. Blasted New England. *sigh* So it'd better be back by March 21!

I answered "February", but actually it's just after the end of autumn, which is shortly before Christmas. For us barbarians, this is a country of permanent (not quite eternal) spring. :))

Practically speaking, when lambing starts and the tits come back to our nesting box. So, a few weeks ago. From a calendar point of view, the spring equinox is the middle of springtime, so 6.5 weeks before that ie. early Feb. Climatewise, it's probably more like late March, give or take (not this year though, the wintery weather has been shorter than usual). Although in my view the summer starts in mid May, climatewise (ie. the seasons aren't equal length, winter's about 4 months and summer likewise with the others about 2 months in length).

Spring starts 01 September in the Antipodes. Right now we're starting to see a cool change, but not much in the way of leaves turning yet. I'll see if I can get reasonable photos of Lake Burley-Griffin in autumn this year.

I was rather thinking of you when I put in the "September" option ;-)

I always used to think March 21 was too early. This year it's been so warm I was beginning to think it had come already, but now it's snowing... maybe it will come on March 21, though!

I had to answer to add my support to the March 1 option. I don't care what the official view is, my personal calendar is quite simple, 3 whole months per season: so spring is March, April, May.
