wellinghall | Luton and Woburn (Reply)

To Luton this am, to buy a portable DVD player (for the train journey to foradan's wedding) and a few odds and ends. Dixons were hopeless (as usual), so went to Argos - hardly a pleasant shopping experience, but efficient. Got home to find that the bit that connects the battery to the player doesn't fasten properly! I can still use it on mains (and I've checked that Eurostar, and TGV, do have power points), so that will have to do until we get back.

Then to collect a parcel from the post office. It turned out to be "Return of the Shadow" by Tolkien; a first edition in far better condition than our current copy (which will now be sold on eBay to partially offset the cost). Excellent service from a shop in Canada.

Then to Woburn. Excellent lunch - good food (Boeuf Bourginion followed by Lemon Cheesecake for me); excellent service; nice ambience (save for crying babies, though one had a top saying "Sooo cute", and she was when she was quiet). Picked up my new jacket and trousers (both fit), then eventually met the others - they took a VERY LONG TIME to meet at the arranged place, and I was first worried and then cross.

Now back home, and thinking about going for a quick walk before Dr Who.
