Longer-term projects

I'm putting this up here with the main aim of prompting myself into doing some of them!; but do feel free to comment if you want to.

1. Get chairs, table and lights for the garden.

2. Get bench-cum-chest for the conservatory.

3. Decorate bedrooms, loft / study, and stairs / landing.

4. New carpets for above.

5. Get loft re-fitted with bookcases etc (maybe; if we do, this will clearly come ahead of the previous two). Actually, deciding on this has probably been the main blocker to getting *anything* done.

6. Get the rest of the furniture that Creatrix inherited from her grandparents re-upholstered / restored.

7. See about the lighting in the living room.

One thing that I have learned throughout countless removals is "Get the books sorted out FIRST". I find that until the books are arranged in the way I like them, nothing else gets done. It's probably why I'm still having problems four years into occupying my own flat - I still haven't got the bookcases arranged quite well enough.

You're quite right. We are making some moves now; we've got the decorator coming round between 8 (!) and 9 on Saturday; the carpet chap on Saturday morning as well (hopefully after 9!); and the fitters next week. We'll then have a better idea of what these three are going to cost, so we can work out what we can afford to have done now.

By the way isn't Creatrix doing the Proceedings editing, or have you something you wish to tell us?

Maybe I should have written, "Do enough of the above, and the routine chores, myself, so that Creatrix has enough time and energy to do the Proceedings."

Or possibly, and with less regard for my personal well-being, "Nag Creatrix until she does the bl**dy Proceedings."

There have been some valid reasons for the delays. Chief among these was, every time the pagination was nearly finished, someone else saying "Can I squeeze my paper in, please?" We had been all primed to stop saying "Yes", when we got one more request; from Tom Shippey!
