You know, I may never have seen Roberta! I am shocked. My good husband and I had dual role models, Fred and Ginger, and Gomez and Morticia. I was also about to chime in on The Dambusters, but it occurred to me to check IMDb. My bad husband showed me a lot of war movies and the original was great, but I see that is not necessarily what you meant.

I hope you are enjoying
Roots and Branches
.

It was the 1950s Dambusters I was watching. I view the approaching Peter Jackson version with a mix of fear and trepidation.

I did enjoy Roots and Branches very much, although a couple of the papers were a bit on the deep side.

Roberta isn't their best - it's an early one, and Fred and Ginger are only in supporting roles. Ginger Rogers does look absolutely lovely in it, though ;-)

T'other thing I had meant to say about Roberta is that a couple of scenes in it clearly serve as the basis for scenes in Singing in the Rain.

Jingo

It is a very funny book - as all Pratchett's books are, IMHO.

Aw - I love the Ingalls Wilder stories - they are such a slice of life. I can just escape into them. Isn't Farmer Boy the one thats out of print. I remember having to search very hard to get it for a present for Beam_engine.

They are lovely, aren't they. Amazon are listing Farmer Boy, although it looks like an American edition.

What did you think to them?

I saw Werewolf in London awhile ago and thought I'd like to see it again but couldn't get through it, but that was probably because I was watching it on the internet and it wasn't good quality.

Bride and Prejudice is awesome, I love that movie!! :) I;ve never read Jane Austin (yet) or seen Pride and Prejudice, the movie of the tv series, so that was my first introduction to something that was related to her work. :) But I loved it, it had Naveen Andrews in it, who plays Sayid in Lost, which is one of my favorite tv shows so it was cool seeing him in something other than Lost.

We have recorded Bride and Prejudice (watching something else at the time it was on) and I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

It's great fun. Lightweight, and interesting at least as much because you're watching to see how they've done it, but still great fun.
