Does anyone have a turntable that will play 78s? And some way of recording onto tape / CD / MP3?

You can buy a USB turntable from Maplin for £100, and it comes with software to speed correct 78rpm records.

That's worth knowing - thanks.

I have a turntable (in the attic) which I think plays 78s. I also have an amplifier (also in the attic - can't remember if this is the bit of the hi-fi that doesn't work correctly, hence its location), and a CD recorder (in the living room, of all places).

I'm a bit far away at the moment (in Rochdale), but I'm moving to Cambridge soon which is nearer your neck of the woods. When that happens I'm more than happy for you to come and take it all away and record your 78s. As long as you bring back at least the CD recorder. The rest has been in the attic for long enough that I can probably let you keep it if you want it. I'll even try to arrange to have just taken some bread out of the oven when you arrive!
