[Poll #1031694]

There is a point to this poll, which will become apparent in a later post ...

I *think* so, anyway. I might have to think about it though. School was a long time ago.

Of course my answer is hypothetical based on my accepting the existence of seven of them.

I came up with seven, not sure if they are the seven though.

Ah. I forgot Anointing and thought Extreme Unction instead. But I bet Emperor is right. So I shouldn't have overconfidently ticked the all of them box. =P

Extreme Unction is a special case of anointing the sick, AIUI.

Ah. I guessed Marriage, baptism, confirmation, last rites, and communion, and decided five was "most"

Well, in answering "all of them" I mean that I know what the Roman Catholic church, and those members of the Anglican communion who are 'Anglo-Catholic' view them to be. However, many Christians would argue that there are two, while still others take further different views. So you might want to rephrase your question.

Of course, I don't *believe* in any sacraments, but you don't have to believe in something to know what the term refers to.

I remember my father showing me seven sacraments fonts several times when I was younger. I managed to remember five.

Well, actually this is a trick question. For all those who are protestants, the answer is that there are only 2 sacraments.

If asking about the 7 sacraments, I think it's clear what [livejournal.com profile] wellinghall means.

Not that I could even remember the term - though I must have heard it explained once. If the organised mind is like a library, mine is more like an explosion in a paper factory.

I ended up with about nine. But of course only two of them are really sacraments...

*ducks*

After an inordinate amount of religious education, I felt I should know this; but in fact I had never heard that there were supposed to be seven sacraments. I came up with about 5, which were substantially correct.

But only 2 in the Anglican church? Matrimony is certainly one, and if that's the case, Baptism and Confirmation can hardly be left out. With Eucharist, that's 4. But while my church wasn't High, it wasn't that Low either...

The 2 in the Anglican church referred to are Baptism & Eucharist. The other 5 are not referred to as aacraments or given quite the same status in some branches of Anglicanism and in some other denominations that also count there as being '2'. A lot of what "we" (I use the term loosely, you know what I mean romancinger) would call High or Low (ish) Anglicanism would still be an Anglo-Catholic point of view...don't forget there's the whole Anglican communion out there to be counted, not just the Church of England by a long way (as you know of course).

Of course, I know them, but...

Far more significant:
What are the seven cardinal sins? (And which one is your pet sin? You have one. Everybody does.)
What are the seven cardinal virtues? (And which one are you most in need of? There is one--guaranteed.)

Sins:
sloth
greed
lust
envy
gluttony
erm ...

Virtues (and I'm really guessing here):
modesty
beauty
cleanliness
godliness
...

sins: envy, anger, sloth (mine), lust, avarice, gluttony, and that granddaddy of them all--pride.
Which is yours?
virtues: modesty, temperance, prudence, humility, generosity, and patience.Oops--I lost one. Piety, I think??
Which do you most need?
