Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. It looks as though we might have 10 - 15 people coming. Can someone who knows Oxford a bit better than I do recommend somewhere that isn't too far from LMH? There is, of course, the conventional trio of the Lamb and Flag, Bird & Baby and Turf ... are they accessible?

[livejournal.com profile] skordh, how are you on taking El into a pub? pub garden? I don't think we've got any more small children already on the list ... ?

ETA: Gardeners Arms, Plantation Road!

There's also the Royal Oak on Woodstock Road, also not too far from LMH; it has a pub garden though it's accessed through the pub, as is that of the Gardener's Arms on Plantation Road. I don't know what either place's policy on children is.

Might be nice to pick somewhere we could book a table, as that is a large group in terms of just showing up and hoping for a place to sit...

IAWTC. OTOH, the cat-herding might be nightmareish.

We're going to the GA, and others are welcome to join us. The thought of herding 15 people around did rather fill me with terror ...

I can't suggest anywhere other than those comments ^ ^ but would add the caveat that the Turf is likely to be full-ish by 7 on a Friday night (certainly the Kings Arms was crowded at 6ish when we tried there last year). Whereas the Gardeners and Royal Oak are less likely to be as busy, although the GA may creak at the seams if we all go (do they even do evening food?) while the Oak is roomy and did evening grub last year.

What we need is a portable banquet!

The GA does indeed do evening food, though the wait can be long. The inside would creak, but the large garden would not.

Yes I do mean to bring Polly and El. There's just a chance we might not be able to make it after all.

El is quite relaxed about pubs. (This is a little boy who when seeing his Daddy buy a bottle of coke in a shop shouts "Beer! Beer!") It's whether the pub is OK with him that matters. Would be useful but not essential for them to have a highchair.

And who, on seeing me go to get a drink at WightFrag, said "Beer" very firmly - which either shows a great knowledge of this chap he sees from time to time, or makes me think he is confusing me with you ;-)

I'm eating with [livejournal.com profile] amalion and [livejournal.com profile] sigisgrim, who have already booked somewhere, close to LMH I think. I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you which restaurant if you want :)
