Stardust made me come out of the cinema with a bounce in my step.

Though you should possibly see Beowulf too, at some stage, if you aren't going to get all uptight about the changes to the plot (which, actually, I think were not only necessary, but very helpful in movie terms.)

And I've seen both movies!

Go and see Stardust, then go and see Beowult.

Stardust is utterly wonderful and I'm hearing good things about Beowult, despite the fact that I wasn't keen earlier.

Haven't had much time for movies recently, so that was a pretty random choice. Looks quite good from the publicity, though.

Stardust is lovely, it's been out longer than Beowulf, so you could see it this weekend and then see beowulf later.

Stardust is brilliant, go and see it! Personally, I'm feeling extremely sceptical about Beowulf, to the point of not going (though I suppose I may weaken later...)

The reviews I've seen say 'and you MUST see Beowulf in 3D...'

This is oddly unhelpful, as I really want to see Beowulf, but the nearest cinema showing it in 3D is, so far as I can discover, a good 3+ hours away, in Bath...

In the meanwhile I say to you 'go and see Stardust'. It is good.

Isn't it odd to have a choice of Neil Gaiman-written movies, of a single November...

I have a review of Beowulf - not seen in 3-D - over on my lj, if that might help.

I saw Stardust twice, of my own volition, and there aren't too many films I do that for. And I hadn't even been a Gaimanite, apart from reading Good Omens many years ago!

I've seen Stardust, which was delightful. I'm deeply dubious about Beowulf, though prepared to be won over if reviews are good.

Having seen Stardust the other week, and Beowulf today (thoughts to follow real soon now), I can say I highly enjoyed both, they were witty and the story zipped along, the characters were all well-rounded. Beowulf is more violent with more sex, and Stardust had more sensawunda and sexuality.

I want the DVDs to go through frame by frame and catch the jokes and references I KNOW I missed.

Someone whose opinion I respect said Stardust was very good; even her husband who disliked "kids'" movies enjoyed it.

It's called hating living at home so much, that paying to live in the cinema gives less grief than an evening at home. And far more fun! :)

I didn't do your poll, because you didn't give the option 'see both'!

Another quite different film that I saw this week was Lions for Lambs which I liked a lot.Particularly good performances from Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. If you're the sort that doesn't like films that preach a particular political viewpoint that you don't share, then you should be careful though.
