Mouth still sore, but not as bad as it was yesterday

Still coughing, but the antibiotics might help with that

Both meetings over with, relatively painlessly

A quiet weekend at home looms

I haven't been keeping comments very up to date. I just want to let you know we've been thinking of you and hoping you will feel better soon. Hugs.

Well I think you're very brave for going through with this implant business. It sounds like it would be fairly daunting even from the point of view of someone who isn't needle phobic!

How did you find the needle side of things, anyway? On the whole did you find it easier than other blood tests/injections you've had, or just as awful?

Not too bad, thanks. My real fear is of blood tests and IVs, neither of which I had this time - just injections for the local anaesthetic, and lots of cutting, stitching etc with various sharp-edged tools. The hefty dose of diazepam I had before definitely helped - but I have had similar doses before IVs, which worked fine until just before the moment of truth, when I was reduced to a gibbering wreck.

I had also been worried by some of the things that could have gone wrong, which my dentist had told me about in advance (very rightly, so I could give informed consent). There was a small but non-trivial possibility that things could have gone very wrong indeed. But (so far, at least!) nothing has.

Gosh. I find dental local-anaesthetics ghastly, and blood tests/IVs not half as bad. I guess this proves you have a real venepuncture-phobia and definitely aren't a wuss!

Glad all has gone as well as could be expected so far... Just imagine, when it's done you will have lovely white teeth which can be interchanged for gold ones on special occasions.

That would be fun :-) And yes, it is venepuncture I have my real phobia about. In fact, I need to stop writing about it (really).
