I don't have any strong objection to plaits (as long as they're not sticking out from under a Viking helmet) but my mental image doesn't have them (for which I blame Karl Urban. :-D)
I picture her in braids, always have. Too many years in the SCA I guess. But wait,when I first read the books the SCA didn't exist yet. Still I picture her in long braids with a band around her head. Must have been the Robin Hood Movies. And I'm sticking to that reason. :)
*blink* *blink* Adjusts reading glasses. OOPS. Anypath - I saw HIM in braids too. Just with the leather band instead of the pretty one she would wear. Long hair out of braids is a PITA, gets matted easily and other such nonsense. I know mine is waist length. YMMV Besides all the old pictures show the men in braids as well. So it's an established vision. As for a Pony Tail? *sigh* segh that was bad. XD
