80s nostalgia hit

ETA: Bizarre: Marillion singing, "My Generation."

Really bizarre: Marillion singing, "Let's Twist Again."

Um, I totally didn't have you pegged for a Marillion fan!

Much tittering without!

Oh, definitely - some of their early stuff is right up my street, and their live recordings are awesome.

Like 'Cinderella Search', for instance...? Your post inspired me to run that search on Youtube for at least the tenth time, and lo, some lovely person just uploaded it last week. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_QxzGVPGIU). This made my day, and probably, once the world has turned just a bit further, my sister [livejournal.com profile] curmudjen's as well.

Oh yes.

If you don't have "Real to Reel", I strongly recommend it. It is coming close to being my favourite live album; and it has some pretty strong competition.

We had the cassette when it came out, my copy is getting a little wonky. So now it's the question - having paid good money for it once, are we going to buy it again now the technology's moved on? I've already bought most of Nick Cave's oeuvre twice now.

If I can find a blank cassette, I could record my CD for you; or lend it to you.

Oooh. And there's a banquet coming up for handover :-) CD loan would be better, as we're down to just one Walkman for cassettes these days. Do say if there's any return loan you think might be of interest from Casa Pellegrina. Our tastes are best described as eclectic.

Will bring to banquet. And please feel free to bring, er, whatever you think might be appropriate!

I really like their early stuff too. I kind of drifted away after Fish left, it just didn't seem the same without him.

Yes, I feel the same. *nods*

I'll be guessing at this being Marillion post DWD/aka Fish, yes?

No, very definitely in his time!

Now I wouldn't have had you pegged for an Adam Ant fan :D

Splendid video and splendid lyrics...

I was vaguely peturbed by the fact that I could sing along almost word for word. Not as peturbed as Toryin, who wasn't (I think) born then and who takes a lot of convincing to think that 80s culture is anything but horrendous...
