Are you allergic to tomatoes? Two of my friends are - it seems an odd allergy but one people can cope with ok; just having cheesy non-tomatoe pizza!

Yes, I am. Not in the sense of putting me into anaphylactic shock, but they give me horrible - and I mean horrible - indigestion.

I can just about cope with a little bit of puree in something, but even that can affect me a bit.

Oddly enough (and probably just a coincidence), my mother couldn't stand tomatoes when she was carrying me.

There have been some studies done that have shown that what the mother consumes during pregnancy can influence the likes and dislikes of the child. My mother suffered terrible sickness all through her pregnancy with me and meat made her very ill. I couldn't stand the smell or taste of most meat till I was about 8. However I did (and still do), have a passion for crystallized ginger right from being a tiny tot - less than 2 years old. I don't think the fact she consumed lots of ginger to control her nausea is unrelated to this.
