This may sound like a silly question, but what time is the TS Dinner likely to end? And what time is the after-dinner talk likely to end?

ETA: And how far is the hotel from the train station?

The dinner starts at 7:30 for 8pm as per usual. When it will end will depend entirely on how swift the catering staff at the hotel are at serving and how fast we eat. When we saw the hotel it gave the impression of being reasonable if not good, but we didn't see any catering staff, just the duty manager, lunch restaurant servers and reception.

The after-dinner talk is likely to be a similar length to usual, probably half-an-hour, but again that is rather an unknown quantity. Also there are likely to be questions.

I'd allow somewhere between two and three hours for the whole lot. But that is a BIG guess.

The hotel is a ten minute walk from the train station. I haven't driven in Coventry for the best part of twenty years, so I don't know what it would take driving by taxi, but I can't see why it should take longer than walking.

Are you going to the meeting?

Thanks for that. We are aiming to go; but travel and accommodation have yet to be arranged ...

You might still be able to book the hotel at £95 for a double room instead of £125. But be quick, like this evening or tomorrow. The deadline has passed, but they seem to be quite accommodating.

As for travel you might want to talk to alitalf & hibernia.

If we come, we're most likely to come for the day. Train from Milton Keynes, plus taxi to / from MK at this end, looks the most plausible.

The only reason we wouldn't come is that we / I have (a) been getting rather tired of late, and (b) been dashing round doing lots at weekends. (These two facts are probably not unconnected). A weekend at home might be just what we need.

If we do decide not to come, we will let people know straight away, so that hopefully our dinners will not be wasted. We do have a letter, which I will post to you, in case we don't come.
