I saw an advert recently* for a modest house in the south of France. Most of it looked fairly standard - main reception room, second reception room, kitchen, two secondary bedrooms, family bathroom, terrace, garden &c. And a master bedroom suite - with bedroom, bathroom and library.

Now that's my kind of house.

*Well, recently-ish.

It would be nice if it also featured an en-suite librarian.

Well if someone here wants to buy the house, I'd apply for the job ;-)

Being a librarian is the fun part. Well, not the being a serials librarian. Accruals I loathe.

What I want is a Social Secretary. And a skivvy.

*wow* on the house overall!

Hmm. I'd be up for a job as a librarian, but I'm not sure about being a social secretary or a skivvy.

Mind you, if I haven't found a new job in six months' time, I might be re-thinking that ...

Our library isn't en-suite, but apart from that , we've got all of those and more bedrooms...

Well, yes, but I assume it is specifically the en-suite-ness of the library that makes this otherwise ordinary house stand out. Realistically, most houses of a decent size *could* easily enough be given a library, but very few could have one that opened off from the master bedroom rather than being in just any random room that had been converted.

I reckon we could do that if we really wanted to by using the largest upstairs bedroom as a master bedroom and knocking through to the dressing room.

But fundamentally, I don't know why you'd want to cut the library off from the rest of the house!
