It's not too disastrous a loss, as there are some good online butchers (we had really wonderful ostritch mince fahitas for tea). If it was a green grocer, I'd be more worried.
The chippy van sounds a wonderful idea - a village probably can't support a shop, or only a shop that opens part of the week, but a van is another matter. I sympathise with
I think the noodles in this case are buckwheat, and the tempura flour is (or should be) either rice flour or rice flour and cornstarch. Fish and chips from a Chippy it is not, but it is very nice! Price-wise and venue-wise, this was very comparable to a fish and chip restaurant.
I am scared of deep fat frying, but might be induced to try it for tempura.
