Nantwich success for Orkney Cheese

"Orkney Cheese is celebrating success at the 2008 Nantwich International Cheese Show - the largest cheese show in the world.

Orkney White Mild and Orkney White Vintage cheddar were both second in their class, winning silver awards, while Orkney White Mature Cheddar took a bronze.

Orkney Smoked was Very Highly Commended."

The overall winner this year was Davidstow's Extra Mature Cheddar (from Cornwall). Now this ain't bad, but it's not that special. Once you've had proper cheddar, you won't go back to ordinary stuff like this. It makes me suspicious that the prizes go to big companies and not artisan cheese-makers.
