We had a good-ish dinner last night - mushroom soup, lamb, and ice cream with mixed berries. Then we took a walk up the other way to the afternoon's walk.

Slept far too long last night. At breakfast, the Norwegian habit of putting out jams, marmalades etc in bowls, right next to the pickles and savoury sauces, is slightly disconcerting - I never know whether I'm about to put lemon curd or picallili (sp?) on my toast.

We're about to go for another walk; then lunch; then a coach tour of the area; then we embark at 5pm.

What's been happening with you all over the past week?

Sewing. Also, sitting like Dido in the ruins of my dining room.

Surely piccalilli & lemon curd have different smells, textures and opacity? *is puzzled* It sounds like you are having a nice time so long may it continue. Are you going to update us on your dinner menu every stop? :D

Note to self: how is it POSSIBLE to do this thing they call "sleeping too long"? *is again puzzled*

Planning The Cultural Olympiad. Which sounds as if it should be stand-up comics, traditional opera companies, museums-engaging-with-young-audiences, chefs and others competing for medals. But is, in reality, quite a good idea - that the next four years should gradually build up to an explosion of things cultural in 2012. Except the Arts Council have got their claws into it, so while the opera companies (and literary festivals, and watercolourists) will be well represented, it's not likely that much support will be given to the cultural stuff that is 'really British' (tm).

So ... I have been planning a rearguard action. Literally: a cycle rally of young (or old) ladies (or gentlemen, or those who are not gentry) wearing bloomers, and a policeman to arrest them.

Arghle, that sounds very I-hate-Art, and I don't. And watercolourists are probably going to be pretty hard done by.
