Fic ideas

Would any of my writer friends care to tackle one, or more, of these ideas? Anything from a drabble to a novel would do very nicely! Pushing the bounds of canon is fine; statements explicitly contradicting canon may need to be justified.

1. Clovis Sangrail, Peter Wimsey and Bertie Wooster are all at a house party at Belvoir Castle, in the years immediately preceeding the first world war. (Feel free to pick any two of these fictional characters. Extra marks will be given for historical characters who would probably have been there).

2. In the 1970s, an investigation being conducted by Superintendent Dalziel and Sergeant Pascoe encroaches onto UNIT territory. The presence of the third doctor is essential; that of an assistant is optional.

3. In the 1980s, Arthur Daley and Derek Trotter both get mixed up with some truly nasty people. CI5 may, or may not, be involved.

4. In the mid-1920s, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Anthony Eden and Alec-Douglas Home find themselves having dinner together in Oxford. Fictional characters who were also in Oxford at the time may be introduced.

5. As a catch-all, a story involving at least one of my fictional interests, and at least one of my real interests.

Re: your idea number 3 - Bizarre connections continue! My thread about bizarre sitcom coincidences (that I've only just posted) concerns an actress named Bridget Brice and her appearance in the Ronnie Corbett sitcom 'Sorry!'. Bridget also played the part of Betty, Cowley's secretary, in 'The Professionals'.

3 has great potential, although my productivity with fic is abominably low...

Er, I meant 2. Have seen precisely one episode of Only Fools and Horses, and had linguistic problems...

That does make more sense - I hadn't really thought of you as a 3 fan!

I would love to tackle #1 or #2, but sadly I have no spare time at present. I will be most interested to read the efforts of others, however.

...I now have an excuse to write fic about Alec Home. Lord have mercy.

This will have to wait until November, but it'll give me an excuse to dig out D.R. Thorpe's biography of him again. As if I need one.

I'll have a shot at No. 1. I love writing crossover - once, for Christmas, I wrote my children a story which involoved Dr Who (Tom Baker erra), classic Trek, Babylon 5 and Red Dwarf! Besides, it will give me something to think about while decorating.

There's no limit on the number of entries for each story ... ;-)

Bilbo looked out of the small window on his left. Then the small window on his right. There was no doubt about it, the ME109e was still on his tail.

He pushed his Spit' into a steep climb, shuddered as the airframe took the strain and the Merlin engine screamed in response.

A brief burst of cannon fire passed close enough to shake the whole plane.

Climb! Climb! He willed the plane to find that extra ounce of energy.

There was an explosion behind him. For a dreadful moment he thought he had been hit. But then another Spit' soared past him and he realised it was Gandalf/

I am amused by the concept of fictional interests.

The rope slowly swung from side to side. Arthur had gone beyond terror as he hung upside down from it. The razor blades and broken glass seem to get closer every swing.

"TERRY!" he managed to cry before one of the masked figures came along a gave him another hard shove which set him spinning as well as swinging. As he spun, he could see that Terry was not fairing any better. The larger of the two masked men holding him down was doing things with an egg beater than brought tears to Arthur's eyes.

"C'm on Arthur" Said a voice, in a very reasonable sounding voice. "All we're asking is that you file your V.A.T. returns". Arthur woke with a start, covered in cold, damp sweat. He shuddered. No more Del Boy kebabs for him.
