Not possessing the skill of looking into the future, I can't, of course, say for sure that we won't get snow, but it seems very unlikely. We very seldom do, even when the rest of Britain gets it. Pesky warming effect of the Solent!

Not possessing the skill of looking into the future

This is one of the benefits of being an actuary ... ;-)

*sigh* I would love to build a snowman in the yard. But being as how I live in Sunny San Jose, CA, it will take some Major Global Cooling before I'll see that. :D
And it doesn't take an actuary to know that we rarely see more than a few flakes around here even in the coldest part of winter. So No Snow this weekend. *sigh* In fact, sunny and warm, upper 60s F.
PS But then again, my husband moved here because he HATES shoveling snow. He's from New York City. :D

I should probably qualify that answer a little. I would in fact like snow if it would then stay until Christmas, but it will most likely melt very quickly again, and then the snowmelt will turn to ice all over the roads and pavements - so then I'd much rather do without.

My thoughts exactly. The nice thing is you're Norwegian so I kind of feel better feeling like that, because it's not a "foreigner" thing...

We're having pretty weather today, though. I love the Winter light. Too bad it last such a short time and the nights are so long...

Very little chance of snow down in Melbourne, alas, although we might see some thunderstorms and maybe the odd bit of hail.
(one weather forecaster described the upcoming weekend as "wintry" - with strong winds, rain with some thunderstorms, and a maximum of ... 17°C. Having moved here from Glasgow that sounds more like a summer forecast to me :-) )

Can't remember us ever having snow that settled in Nov since we moved to Cornwall, even though we are kind of high up.... I suppose there might be a sprinkling on the top of Dartmoor but I'd be amazed if there was enough for a snowman!

The Met Office has this to say: There is a moderate risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of northern and northeastern Scotland. Northerly winds will bring heavy snow showers to parts of north and northeastern Scotland. Snow showers and strong winds may cause blizzard conditions. Accumulations of several cms are likely.

So, I'm off to Tesco's now, while it's still sunny, to stock up for the weekend.

No snow forecast for Cambridge, as far as I can see. It would be inconvenient this weekend, anyhow, as I have my in-laws staying and it would be nice to be able to get around with them.

I hate driving in snow (actually I hate driving in any condition, but snow particularly) and the quickest way to church is by way of a steep hill . . .

We drove up and down the steep hill surrounded by flurries of snow . . . and following a gritting lorry.
God is good!

I have to drive to Birmingham and back at ungodly hours in the morning this weekend, the frost and ice will be quite enough, without actual snow.

Besides, we had snow at Easter - we can hardly expect it for christmas as well...

It's very unlikely I'm allowed to build a snowman, even if it does snow enough for it (I doubt it will, though).

A remote chance but it's probably going to be limited to the coast, not to the Pennines.

If it does snow then I want proper snow not just a piddly bit that inconveniences me, so I can go out and sledge and things :D

Either way, I'd lay bets on the shops here having been besieged by pensioners stocking up on bread ;)

Well.

The Met Office are saying, 'Oh, you may see one snow-flake, possibly two'; whilst the Beeb are running about in circles, shrieking, 'Heavy snow! Drifts overtopping the chimney at the LaFarge cement plant! We'll all be entombed in the ice forever! Aaaaaaarrrrgh!' So I'm anticipating a light dusting in some areas.

Ha ha :). Well they have been over cautious ever since they failed to predict those storms way back in the 90s some time.

We have to go out several times this weekend (have to, not want to), and the last time is driving to Chester, so I will not be very impressed if it snows. Not at all. It had better not.
