The bell rang from the bathroom. The words, "heart attack!" formed in Bunter's mind, to be replaced by the still more alarming, "no soap!"

He left the eggs and went through. One glance at Lord Peter's face told him that his first thought had been correct; it was suffused with purple. It was also underwater; and no bubbles came from the nose.

Bunter thought for a moment. He would need to ring the doctor first, and then Inspector Parker. But first he would want the keys for the safe. He had wanted that f/2.8 astigmat lens for quite a while.

This is based on Dorothy L. Sayers right? I keep meaning to read her. Though maybe just as well I haven't yet, so that I avoided the shock and frustration from reading this :)

It is; the first paragraph is closely based on one of her short stories, but the other two aren't typical DLS at all!

Ha! So the pure and pristine Bunter actually harbored the impulse to sin by theft, because he was tempted by a lens!

Hee.
