Before we went on holiday, a man came to take away our chairs so that he could re-cover them.
When we got back from holiday, another man came to take away our rugs so that he could clean them.
Last night, the first man came to bring back our chairs, and take away a rather large cheque.
And then this evening, a third man came to take away two chests of drawers (and assorted books, clothes and tapes) for a jumble sale.
Phew!
Add to that yet another man coming round this evening to look at our painting, and our living room has been feeling rather like Picadilly Circus.
Bringing back the furniture and the rugs almost feels like a shame - I had quite got used to the extra space.
