[livejournal.com profile] adaese went into town this morning. Among other things, she went to Boots to pick up some photos.

I've popped home for lunch, so I had a look at them. Photos: birds and Sarehole: check. Index print inside CD case: birds and Sarehole: check. Put CD in laptop so I can upload them: small children. WTF?

Boots answered the phone quickly enough, but their photography department aren't picking up.

That'll be because they're dealing with an irate customer who wants to know where their photos of their small children are...

Yes, very possibly! She will be wondering why her daughter has turned into a shelduck.

Sod the photography dept. Get the store manager. I hope that you get your pictures back - and that you still have the files.

(Boots did this to me once, with prints. They were unconcerned to say the least. I pointed out that they had the bloke's phone number and would find him, collect my photos, and send them to me by taxi. Astonishingly, they did. Ever since I have used directfoto.co.uk)

It did get sorted out, but only by [livejournal.com profile] adaese making a second trip into town.

I got into the habit of using Boots when I was in my previous office, which was only about five minutes' walk away; they were then very convenient, and issues like this became minor ones. But now I live and work much further from them.

The one time I posted my films to Peak Imaging, they lived up to their excellent reputation. I should go back to them.

I reckon you're two steps away from the Sex Offenders' Register. Look out for the knock on the door!

I would make a jest about this in return, but who knows who may be reading?

Jessops seem marginally less shit than Boots in this regard.

I wouldn't trust Jessops with anything at the moment. They're in deep financial difficulties.

Do you think this might compromise theit standards, or that there's a risk the shop would be shut when you went back the next day to collect your prints?

I have used Boots less than half a dozen times, and have been dissatisfied every single time. They have destroyed film, they have scratched negatives, they have made extraordinarily bad prints, they have made the wrong type of prints...

I haven't used them for the last ten years. Nor do I intend to, ever again.

I used to use Co-lab, who were terrific - but they don't do film anymore...
